International Space Station and Shuttle visible tonight

BOONE—It isn’t often that two space craft are visible in the sky at the same time, but if skies are clear and free of too much light pollution, both the International Space Station (ISS) and Space Shuttle Endeavor will be visible tonight over North Carolina.

BOONE—Award-winning journalist Paul Cuadros had been a reporter for the Washington-based Center for Public Integrity when he moved to Pittsboro to write about how the migration of Latino laborers was changing small southern towns.

Appalachian remains one of region’s best universities according to U.S. News & World Report

BOONE—Appalachian State University jumped two places to the No. 10 spot in the “Best Universities-Master’s in the South” category in U.S. News & World Report’s 2008 America’s Best Colleges Guide. The university retained its fifth-place ranking among the South’s top public master-degree granting universities.
