Compositions for piano duo featured in Nov. 6 recital

BOONE—Pianists Rodney Reynerson and Bair Shagdaron perform works by Debussy and Rachmaninoff during a Nov. 6 performance at Appalachian State University.
The program begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

Degas Quartet performs Bartok and Beethoven Nov. 7

BOONE—The Degas Quartet will perform chamber works by Bartok and Beethoven Nov. 7 at Appalachian State University.
The 8 p.m. performance in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall is part of the university’s Performing Arts Series and is presented in partnership with the Hayes Endowment for Musical Excellence in Appalachian’s Hayes School of Music.

BOONE—The Boone Sustainable Transportation Club at Appalachian State University will hold a biodiesel workshop Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost is $15 for students and $20 for community members.

Free science seminars focus on environment and sustainable development

BOONE—The Math and Science Education Center at Appalachian State University is hosting a variety of science seminars throughout the academic year that focus on the environment and sustainable development.
The free seminars are open to the public and provide high school and middle grades science teachers the opportunity to earn up to 1.4 recertification credits.

Service honoring area veterans held Nov. 12 at Appalachian

BOONE—Because Veterans Day falls on a Sunday this year, Appalachian State University will hold a ceremony honoring veterans on Monday, Nov. 12.
The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the memorial beside B.B. Dougherty Administration Building. A continental breakfast will be served in the administration building lobby following the ceremony. The public is invited.
