Music professor receives advisor of the year award

BOONE—Jennifer Snodgrass has received the National Collegiate Outstanding Advisor Award from Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) International Music Fraternity for female music majors and alumnae.
Snodgrass is an assistant professor in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University.

Geologist uncovers earth’s secrets, says Southern California is overdue for a major earthquake

BOONE—An Appalachian State University geologist uses everything from backhoes to trowels to reach deeply for evidence of earthquakes that have occurred over time. The knowledge she and fellow scientists are gaining provides valuable data to help understand risks from earthquakes in the years ahead.

ARHS wins Active at Work Community Award

BOONE — Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS) received this year’s Active at Work Community Award presented by the Be Active-Appalachian Partnership, housed at Appalachian State University. The award recognizes ARHS’s attention to employee wellness, specifically its pedometer challenge that won the national Win with Walk with Spirit competition last spring.
