BOONE—Nine students from Appalachian State University will work as volunteers during UNC TV’s fundraising telethon Festival 2008. The students will take financial pledges from viewers on March 1 from 2:30-7:30 p.m. and March 2 from 7-11:30 a.m.

The 10th annual Polar Plunge at Appalachian State University on Thursday raised more than $9,600 to benefit Watauga County Special Olympics. A total of 202 plungers participated.
