Appalachian students participate in AIESEC conference in Puerto Rico

BOONE—Nine Appalachian State University students traveled to Puerto Rico Nov. 6-10 to attend the AIESEC National Conference and participate in networking activities. AIESEC is a global student organization that promotes cultural understanding while building student leadership skills.

$1 million Boone Creek restoration project begins in April 2009

BOONE—Appalachian State University has received $500,000 from the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund and $300,000 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation to continue restoration of Boone Creek that runs through part of campus.

Grant supports steep slope vineyards soil erosion control

BOONE—The Appalachian Center for Mountain Winegrowing at Appalachian State University has received a $9,500 grant from the North Carolina Wine and Grape Council (NCWGC) to study soil erosion control as it relates to steep slope vineyards.
