New department chairs named in Appalachian’s Walker College of Business

BOONE— Cindy Poe of Denver, Marie Furches of Winston-Salem and Carl Clarke of Kernersville have been inducted into the Reich College of Education’s Rhododendron Society at Appalachian State University.

Appalachian’s campus radio station receives N.Y. Festivals Radio Broadcasting Awards honors

BOONE—Appalachian State University’s student-run radio station WASU 90.5 FM received two Finalist Certificates in the New York Festivals Radio Broadcasting Awards.
The awards recognize “The World’s Best Work” in radio broadcasting. Hundreds of entries were submitted from around the world.

Former school teacher honors parents and supports future teachers with scholarship

BOONE—A daughter’s love for her parents and an appreciation for the sacrifices they made to send their children to college has resulted in a scholarship for prospective teachers attending Appalachian State University.

Incoming freshmen hone math skills in special summer program at Appalachian

BOONE—Aimee Messier had second thoughts about spending part of her summer in an academic camp for entering freshmen at Appalachian State University.

Scholarships created in memory of Appalachian alumna

BOONE—Two scholarships have been established in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business in memory of alumna Karen Lea Byrd who died in unexpectedly in February 2009.
Byrd was a 2004 graduate in accounting and computer information systems. She earned a master of science degree in accounting in 2005.
