BOONE—The Human Performance Laboratory in Appalachian State University’s Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science offers low-cost, research level fitness tests university faculty, staff, students, and individuals from the community.
These tests include:

EKG-Treadmill test with measurement of oxygen consumption (VO2max) (the best test for heart and lung fitness).  This test is for apparently healthy individuals only. [...]
